Bourke's association with The Shepherd Centre began over 30 years ago when he met Dr Shepherd who performed many operations on Bourke’s legs and torso, virtually saving him from amputations.
Since then, Bourke has chosen to actively support The Shepherd Centre by fundraising in Sydney’s Northern suburbs. Bourke can be seen at Chatswood Mall, Neutral Bay and Manly Corso selling pens to raise money. Through his tireless commitment to fundraising he has raised substantial funds for The Shepherd Centre.
In 2007 The Bourke Gibbons Shepherd Centre was opened at Roseville. A great day for Bourke indeed.
